As a SQL Database Engineer, you will integrate an internal IT team to be involved in different projects to run Mission Critical Solutions of our clients, from the deep practical experience with the customer to Pro-Active advice to improve their operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Seek to find and implement innovative solutions to common developer bottlenecks;
  • The SQL Server Database Engineer is responsible for database administration and architecture of SQL Servers (mostly Windows and virtual through VMWare) in public and private cloud infrastructure.
  • The scope of responsibilities will include installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL Servers, design and architect database solutions, planning, leading, and executing database projects and keeping up with the current trends in technology, analyse and provide recommendations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, experienced in clustering, high availability (Always On), disaster recovery, replication and log shipping on Windows platform supporting hundreds of SQL Servers ranging from SQL Server 2008 through SQL Server 2019.
  • SQL Server Database engineers are tasked with supporting the day-to-day run function of the IG&H database environments with a focus on system performance, ongoing scaling to meet workload demand, supporting the SQL development organization with data architecture/management decisions, and ensuring the integrity of the data managed. Responds to alerts as generated through industry standard database monitoring tools, ensures the database backup and platform refresh operations run within the target SLAS, and acts as liaison with Microsoft SQL teams as needed.
  • Supports SQL Roadmap development, upgrading/migration, and execution.
  • Monitor the SQL Server database environments using provided tools and ensuring performance, availability, and capacity support SLAs and workload growth targets. Respond to alerts and support problem resolution until issue is resolved. Escalate incidents to other team functions and vendors as needed to ensure timely resolution.
  • Support ongoing SQL platform development through roadmap development, migration planning, and SQL build management. Continually update the SQL build process, VMware images, and associated checklist/runbooks
  • Ensure SQL environment backup, recovery, refresh, and disaster recovery infrastructure remain in compliance through ongoing monitoring, testing, and problem resolution. Maintain lower environment refresh T-SQL and expand/deploy as requested by development team and associated customer base.
  • Participate in the release management process through executing code deployments using the IG&H release process.

What we are looking for:

  • Working experience in database modelling and knowledge of best practices in database engineering;
  • Extensive experience with database technologies and architecture in Azure, SQL (MSSQL/DWH);
  • Knowledge in more than 1 SQL engines (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgresql, etc..);
  • Understanding of API oriented and optimized data shaping/persistence;
  • Technology disciplines/areas of specialization - Experience with working in an agile environment (SAFe, Scrum, DevOps);
  • Data Architect / DBA experience on large scale enterprise cloud transaction processing and reporting systems
  • Development experience: Focus on Query improvement and Troubleshooting DB infra and query issues;
  • Promote best practices in Data;
  • Database performance analysis and tuning,
  • Applied understanding of scaled database architectures.
  • Knowledge in Business Intelligence and Data Engineering are a plus;
  • Strong track record of delivering solutions and problem solving;
